Gun Dog Training at Austin Gun Club
Austin Gun Club offers professional dog training services for those seeking a well-trained hunting companion. Basic training generally takes about three months and includes whoa breaking, come in command, whistle training, walking at heel, and basic bird work in the hunting fields for pointing breeds.
Retrievers are worked on basic obedience; including sit, heel, down, and kennel. Trainers also work on hand signals, whistle commands, and delivery of birds to hand. Austin Gun Club Trainers do not force break to retrieve, but we can have this done for you from a trusted professional trainer.
All dogs are conditioned to gun fire and will be ready to hunt upland birds, dove or ducks depending on the needs of the owner.
Puppy training is a month-long program which introduces young dogs to field work, birds, and gun fire. Ages of puppies accepted into this program range from 3 months to 1 year.
We train a variety of dog breeds including retrievers, pointing dogs, and spaniels.
Each dog will be evaluated prior to being accepted into our training program.
We encourage owners to get involved in the training process with us if they would like.
Private training sessions can be arranged for those with a specific need or for those wishing to train their own dog.
